Art
The primary art education curriculum presents students with opportunities to develop creative thinking skills. Standard-aligned content meets the needs of all learners allowing them to learn, create and grow as artist. Art lessons include several instructional resources to support student understanding of a wide variety or art concepts and skills. Students develop an understanding of the elements of art and how to utilize them successfully in their artwork.
The art curriculum also showcases an emphasis on choice-based art education as an authentic way for open exploration within the classroom that advocates the student's own strengths as they self-initiate through the artmaking process. With opportunities for self-reflection and discussion throughout the learning process assists students in identifying successes in their artwork, next steps and areas for potential growth.
The primary art curriculum not only guides and directs students' education, but also inspires them to express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas as lifelong learners and artists.
