Wellness
The goal for the Wellness program at Greencastle-Antrim Primary School (GAPS) is to provide a foundation of knowledge and skills for all students to develop a positive lifelong commitment to their own health and physical well being. The K-2 Wellness curriculum is aligned to the state and national standards for health and physical education.
The program strives to embody a clear emphasis on the development of fundamental locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative skills to prepare students for the next stage of learning. Lessons are designed to illuminate character development as students practice teamwork, sportsmanship, conflict resolution, and decision making skills.
Students will be encouraged to help build, and foster, a positive learning environment in the Wellness classroom which will allow learners to feel confident, safe, and supported. Students of every ability level will experience personal success based on their own unique ability level.
